According to this article published by The Next Platform, the MT-3000 processor made by NUDT has a multi-zone architecture that combines 16 general-purpose CPU cores with 96 control cores and 1536 accelerator cores. In terms of power, the MT-3000 processor is said to achieve a peak performance of 11.6 FP64 TFLOPS, delivering an energy efficiency of 45.4 GFLOPS/W at an operating frequency of 1.20 GHz.

The most important aspect of the MT-3000's processor architecture is that it combines all-purpose accelerator cores and matrix cores on a single piece of silicon.
The Next Platform also mentioned that the MT-3000, as a compact processor, should be built on an advanced process that could be between 14nm and 10nm. The chip is likely made by Chinese foundry SMIC, which also produces the relatively advanced HiSilicon Kirin 9000S processor for Huawei based on its second-generation 7nm process.

With the MT-3000, China's Tianhe Xingyi supercomputer is said to achieve unprecedented computing performance, achieving 1.57 exaflops in LINPACK benchmarks. For comparison, the performance of Frontier, the fastest supercomputer in the United States, reaches 1.102 exaflops.

The Tianhe-3 supercomputer has various uses, including performing high-speed computations, training large artificial intelligence models, and analyzing big data. This supercomputer is expected to strengthen the capabilities of the "Guangzhou National Supercomputer Center" and provide services to Guangzhou City and Guangdong Province.
