It has probably happened to you that you are in an important meeting or concentrating on something, suddenly the sound or vibration of the device distracts you. In fact, the purpose of sending notifications is to get your attention; Of course, sometimes this feature can make users uncomfortable. Fortunately, this problem will be partially solved in Android 15.

According to Android Central, with the release of the Android 15 developer preview, a limit has been set for notifications. Google has released this feature called "Notification Cooldown" and it will be enabled by default if you update your device to this version.

How does the Notification Cooldown feature work in Android 15?

Users can enable this option in Android 15 for all notifications or just specific conversations; So if you are a member of social networks and groups that have a lot of activity, this feature will probably come in handy.

In general, this feature reduces the amount of notifications. The first few notifications from a particular app or conversation are received as normal and loud. After that, each successive notification will be muted so as to be less annoying to the audience.

However, it seems that these recurring notifications will not be completely silenced. The idea is that the change in sound indicates to the user that the notifications are coming from the same app or active conversation. Of course, you can still silence notifications through your phone's settings.

The Notification Cooldown feature actually has a timer that after a certain period of time, the messages of the same conversation will be announced again with the previous volume. At the moment, Google has not included the possibility to customize the timer in this feature, but it will probably be possible in the future.

Google's official explanation of Notification Cooldown is: "When you receive multiple notifications from a specific app in a row, this feature gradually reduces the volume of that app's notification."

It is expected that in April of this year, Google will make the Android 15 beta available to the public.
